Feel good and support employment for Aussies whilst avoiding lengthy wait times until containers are filled & shipped from China.
What material are our plantation shutters made from?
Whilst our shutters have the natural appearance and feel of a timber product, they are made from a dense polymer foam that has several advantages over its wooden cousins. Insulite is an eco-friendly product made from renewable synthetic & non-toxic material that is water resistant, fire retardant and provides greater insulation properties than wood. Making them a perfection solution for any room in the home.
Insulite offers the best of both worlds. It has the longevity of synthetic material while mimicking the beauty of timber. This allows you to balance between durability, style, function, and cost. Insulite shutters are guaranteed not to discolour, crack, warp, shrink, or lose tension
How long do plantations last?
10-25 years. Our PVC Plantation shutters are an extremely durable product and can last decades with minimal maintenance & won’t fade dramatically, yellow or rust.
Do plantations let in the light?
Plantations are not completely 100% block out. They are an elegant light filtering solution that allows complete control to the amount of light you allow into a room whilst not restricting air flow. If you are after 100% light block solutions, we recommend our state-of-the-art roller shutters, to find out more click here.
Where should I put plantation shutters?
Plantations make for a great feature in any room, even wet areas of the home. We don’t recommend them for outdoor use, but we do have an excellent aluminium option specifically designed for your outdoor areas
How wide can each hinged plantation shutter be?
We recommend each panel be under 750mm width for drop heights of up to 1500mm and 650mm for panels over 1500mm high. You can easily do 2 panels for wider windows
How tall can plantation shutters be?
2500 is the recommended height but we have built shutters on top of each other with a centre horizontal T post

What are the best framing options?
We recommend Z frames they look the best and are easy to fit on your windows because they are able to disguise openings that may be slightly out of square.
L Frame is also available for when face fit is required.
Do plantation shutters provide insulation against heat & cold?
Because plantations are custom built to fit your window, they fit snug up against the frame reducing heat & cold transference. When the shutters are closed, you are providing an extra layer of insulation through the window glass. Unlike wood or plastic that can warp due to moisture, heat, or excess weight, Insulite is extremely strong and resistant to environmental pressures. It offers so much insulation from the elements they will save households on energy costs. Our plantations are engineered to cope with severe weather conditions found in Australia, reducing noise heat and light coming in.

YOU MAY HAVE TO LIFT PANELS SLIGHTLY TO CLOSE THEM
With an aluminium core for strength, PVC shutters are heavy. It is common, even when professionally installed, for this kind of shutter to drop slightly when opened and for the foot of the shutter to make contact with the bottom of the frame when closed. The shutter may have to be lifted slightly to be closed back into the frame. This behaviour is considered normal and, as such, cannot be the subject of a warranty claim.
CLOSING ONE SHUTTER BLADE MAY NOT COMPLETELY CLOSE EVERY OTHER BLADE
Shutters blades are joined by a hidden tilt rod and all move together when any single blade is opened and closed. Particularly on tall panels, closing the blades of a shutter by turning a single blade may not completely close every other blade. You may need to turn more than one blade to close them the last millimeter or so. This behaviour is considered normal and, as such, cannot be the subject of a warranty claim.
FROM TIME TO TIME, COVER STRIPS MAY NEED TO BE REFITTED
Outside mounted shutter frames have a cover strips. Fitting cover strips is the final step in shutter installation and are used to hide mounting screws from view. Cover strips are held in place by friction alone – they may, from time to time, need to be pushed back into the frame. If you find that your cover strips are frequently falling out, please contact us, we’ll be happy to send you some double sided tape. We recommended this to be your best option. This behaviour is considered normal and, as such, cannot be the subject of a warranty claim.
WHEN OPENED, YOUR SHUTTERS MAY SWING CLOSED BY THEMSELVES
Professionally installed shutters on perfectly square, unbowed windows will generally stay open by themselves. However, few windows are perfectly square or installed and even professional installers will sometimes struggle to prevent shutters from hinging closed by themselves. It is our experience that once installed, very few shutters are regularly opened other than for cleaning. If you are having trouble with closing panels you can try to bring the bottom of your shutter frame forward slightly, although we generally would not advise it. This behaviour is considered normal and, as such, cannot be the subject of a warranty claim.
MID, TOP AND BOTTOM RAIL POSITIONS MAY VARY
Shutters are manufactured to your exact window dimensions – every shutter is unique. Shutter blades are a fixed size (89mm) and must be evenly distributed in order to operate and look perfect. To achieve this distribution, the size of your shutter’s top and bottom rails, and the position of your midrail, may vary.
Shutters are manufactured with a midrail position tolerance of +/- 15mm. The midrail itself is always 82.5mm high (meaning a 15mm variance is generally unnoticeable). By request, the position of a single midrail can be manufactured exactly, however if your shutter has two midrails, they cannot both be ordered in ‘critical’ positions.
To achieve a perfectly manufactured shutter panel, the top and bottom rail of your shutters can vary in height between 85mm and 148mm. This means that if you have multiple shutters of different height in the same room, the top and bottom rails may be slightly different sizes.
